Glass mat (also called non-woven glass fiber) is a flat fabric made of chopped glass fibers oriented in a random pattern and bonded together. Originally invented to replace cardboard in waterproofing membranes, glass mat have long conquered additional application areas such as commercial and residential construction, energy storage and automotive applications. Glass mats can be custom-made to meet end-user requirements.
Our production is equipped with automated and state-of-the-art equipment. Glass cloth is made by the “wet method” from chopped E-type glass fiber, which is distributed evenly and in different directions on the plane, after which it is automatically sprayed with a binding emulsion. The resulting fabric is rolled to remove air bubbles from the emulsion and placed in a drying oven. Thanks to modern equipment, we obtain a non-woven fabric made of multidirectional, uniformly distributed glass fibers up to 50 mm long.
The resulting glass glass mats, of varying density in the form of rolls, can be used both independently (density 20-250 g/m² and width up to 2600 mm), and reinforced with a dye-adhesive composition (density 280-450 g/m² and width up to 1300 mm)for subsequent reinforcement of gypsum panels. Materials made from our glass mat have high strength, demonstrate good mechanical properties over a long period, and are highly resistant to atmospheric influences and chemicals.
Glassmat Plita (GP) with a core of gypsum with additives and reinforced with glass mat, are designed as facade panels for use in commercial and residential premises as a stand-alone type of facade panel for painting, and under a wide range of exterior claddings, including brick, stone, metal, wood and vinyl, as well as EIFS and ventilated facade systems.
The resulting material has excellent characteristics such as resistance to mold and moisture, durability, sound insulation, impact resistance and fire resistance.
The fire resistance property of the material determined its use as a protective barrier for evacuation routes in buildings and as a fire protection barrier for elevator shafts.
